  • Photography For The Sake of It

Sometimes I get my camera out and I don’t have a clear vision what my goal for that moment is. I’ll chalk it up to wanting to have the camera in my hand, and exploring why I like to make photographs.

Most of the time, “because I enjoy it” is usually enough. This night, I was exploring a bit the reasons for photographs. Maybe events in my life that led me to exploring this hobby in a lonely way. After all, isn’t Ansel Adam’s work nothing if not feeling alive when you’re alone?

I’m clearly not Ansel Adams. Anyway, sometimes making photographs for the sake of it helps to clarify for me what I like about photographs and my style. That’s enough.

Made near a university campus. All Pentax K-1 with various lenses. Also strong reminder that I really love the lenses from the 80’s.

  • A fast sunset

I was out with friends, had my camera, when this sunset arrived unannounced and stayed for five minutes.

    Pentax K-1 II, all with Pentax-FA 50mm f1.4 lens.

  • Another look in a downtown

Trying to consolidate lenses, I have one that I’ve had mixed opinions on for awhile. I attached it to my full frame camera and took it downtown Oklahoma City for a few minutes.

This is a wider angle that I wish I had more experience with, the type of angle was one of the reasons I have this specific camera.

    All with a Pentax K-1 II, Pentax-M 28mm f2.8 lens (first generation).

It’s an interesting lens and outdoors you can get a very 80’s vibe out of it, the vignetting and color saturation make it interesting. For me, I think I’ll keep looking.

  • An Afternoon in Downtown Dallas

In Texas for a work conference but not thrilled about staying there for a weekend, I pointed my maps application at “Downtown Dallas” and walked on my feet for a few minutes.

All made with a Pentax K-1 II.
